Former Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Prof Wande Abibmbola, has warned that the Yoruba language and culture might become extinct if the people do not give up the habit of speaking foreign languages at the expense of their indigenous language.
Abimbola spoke in Ibadan, Oyo State, at the launch of Odu’a Children.com CD, produced for Yoruba children in Nigeria and in the diaspora. The CD contains folk songs, folk tales and poems aimed at promoting Yoruba culture and value system.
